IMPORTANT
The course is very challenging, covering over 31 miles of rugged
terrain. The weather is unpredictable, with runners having encountered
temperatures from below freezing to over 100 degrees, as well as
intense sun, rain, snow, sleet, and hail in the past 20 years. After
moderate rainfall, the first 16 miles are muddy. After snowfall, mile
25 to the finish may be covered with snow or slush and the final 2 miles
may also be muddy. If not prepared for the above, you should not enter.
